Jay has more than 40 year as a barbershopper and lives in Louisville, KY with wife Kathy. Jay and Kathy have two children Kristina & J.J. Recently retired from nearly 31 years with UPS, Jay stays busy coaching several BHS, SAI, & HI groups and sings with the Louisville Thoroughbred Chorus and is the assistant director and Bass section leader. Jay is also a dual member of the Ambassadors Of Harmony, St. Louis, Missouri. Jay is one of 17 men who have won the coveted International Quartet Championship two times. In addition, Jay has won six district quartet championships (1 as baritone and 5 as bass). He also won International medals in 3 quartets (The Interstate Rivals – bass – 1987 International Champions, The Naturals – baritone – 1992-93 3rd place Bronze medalists, and Marquis – bass – 1995 International Champions). Jay currently sings with the 2012 International Senior Quartet Champions Rusty Pipes from JAD. He also sings with a family quartet called Miller’s Boys (named to honor Jim and Rosemary Miller) with his son J.J., his nephew Billy Crutcher, and his son-in-law Drew Wheaton. Jay was the director of the Loganairre Chapter in Bellefontaine, OH when he was 22 (he started singing barbershop music in that chapter at age 14) and directed the Louisville Thoroughbred Chorus to a Cardinal District Championship and a Top 20 finish in the BHS International Chorus contest in 2005. Jay also has three International Chorus Championship medals (1981 & 1984 with The Thoroughbreds and 1992 with Southern Gateway Chorus). Jay is extremely proud of his wife Kathy and daughter Kristina who sing in the front row of the Pride of Kentucky Chorus (several times International Medalist) and son J.J. and son-in-law Drew who sing with the Kentucky Vocal Union Chorus (3rd Place International Medalist chorus from 2012).
